Funding

PEM Friends operates on a small budget to cover its running costs, such as this website, our subscription list and our bi-annual magazine, PEM Lives. We do not charge our PEM Friends for belonging to the group but we are always grateful for any donations. This is the current main source of our funding.

PEM Friends can claim 25% on most donations made by UK tax payers. If you would like us to be able to claim Gift Aid, then please confirm that you want to donate to PEM Friends, are a UK tax payer and your full name and address.

Other sources of monies are from small grants, which are targeted at a specific project, or from funeral donations.

Monthly donations

We are grateful to our members who contribute regularly. Our donation page makes it simple to set up a monthly donation. Our charitable status also means that UK tax payers can use Gift Aid to boost their donation.

One-off donations

Some of our PEM Friends donate as a donation to a specific project, such as a contribution to postage and packaging for paper copies of our magazine or our PEM Friends journal. Or simply because they want to help. UK tax payers can use Gift Aid to boost their donation.

Funeral donations

Although pemphigoid and pemphigus are rarely fatal nowadays, PEM Friends are lost to us occasionally and we are very grateful to their loved ones for thinking of us when making funeral donations. PEM Friends magazines and leaflets can be provided if requested by mourners.

Sponsored activities

Several of our PEM Friends have donated money donated by sponsorship. Mark Ransom-Thomson, for example, ran in the 2023 London Marathon. PEM Friends are able to provide running shirts or other named merchandise, as well as bundles of moral support and advertising.
