PEM Friends has been given the terrific sum of £5400 from Scott Marsden.
We would like to thank Scott and his Mum Hazel (& Extended family and friends) for their amazing donation to support the work of PEM Friends.
Here is what Hazel says:
"Scott Marsden’s Journey - In June 2022, after 4 painful, stressful. months, my son Scott was diagnosed with PV, Scott was a very healthy 27-year-old up until then. Like many people we had never heard of Pemphigus or pemphigoid disease. Scott was eventually seen by a dermatologist, who has little or no, experience of PV, but thankfully seemed keen to learn! Scott started on a tapering treatment plan 80mg prednisolone, Azathioprine, vitamin D and Omeprazole. His symptoms were excruciating painful. Even a gentle breeze in his hair caused severe pain! Fortunately, Scott has supportive family and friends and none of us knew what we were dealing with or how best to support hum. Scott thankfully found PEM Friends and found it immensely supportive. Scott hasn’t yet reached remission. After tapering down successfully to 17.5 mg of Prednisolone, in the latter part of 2024, Scott’s symptoms returned, and he had to Increase his prednisolone to 30mg. He is slowly reducing again but is understandably anxious about the future. Scott is acutely aware of the limited knowledge and awareness of pemphigus disease by the public and medical professionals.
Scott is keen to raise awareness and to help PEM Friends. In the run up to Christmas 2024 we decided to organise a charity event at the beautiful Dunkeld House Hotel in Perthshire, Scotland. This was a very successful event which everyone had a wonderful time and we raised £5400 which we donated to PEM Friends. Scott is a very outgoing charismatic character who wants to do his best for everyone. I am immensely proud of him. As a family we can’t express how much we have benefited from the care and support of PEM Friends and this our way of giving something back"
