On Tuesday July 1st Trina attended Day 1 of the British Association of Dermatology Annual Meeting

Here is her report:

All set up. Come on Doctors I'm ready for you!
All set up. Come on Doctors I'm ready for you!

It was a very early start. I Arrived at 8 am to set up the PEM Friends booth. Fortunately I was right opposite the catering! An ideal position.

My View for the Day
My View for the Day

During the day I spoke with around 15 doctors who have a particular interest in AIBD diseases. We had a great response, with 11 doctors signing up to our mailing list to receive PEM Friends updates.

We gave away 25 PEM Friends tote bags, which were well received.

Hazel Marsden joined me at the PEM Friends stand at 10:45 am. It was a pleasure to spend time with her and get to know her better. (Thank you, Hazel).

Many Patient Information Leaflets were also picked up. Several doctors expressed interest in learning more about the photo library, and I had the chance to meet a colleague of Sophie’s, who was involved in the original project.

I spoke with representatives from Sanofi Regeneron regarding a replacement for our contact who recently left the company. They plan to be in touch.

I had a lovely conversation with Julie Van Onselen, who has now joined our Advisory Team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. We discussed my role as Chair, and she kindly accepted my invitation to attend our next PEM Council meeting on 29th July.

I also met with representatives from Avène Laboratoire Dermatologique. We explored the potential dermatological impacts of HEV. Saima shared details of their latest product, Avène Very High Protection Sun Cream SPF50+ for Dry Sensitive Skin. It’s water-resistant, long-lasting, and invisible, offering broad-spectrum protection specifically designed for dry, sensitive skin. She kindly agreed to send us samples to distribute to PEM Friends members—more details to follow.

Lastly, I had a brief but friendly chat with Mandy from the Ichthyosis Support Group.

5pm and it's been a long day

Look out for our report tomorrow on Day 2 where I will be joined by Hazel and Scott Marsden.
